This sample opened last day October 22 of 2014 and will be extended in the time until the day 18 January 2015.

in this sample the Thyssen museum, presents a wonderful retrospective of the French fashion designer which represents an entire institution in the world of the sewing of the twentieth century. This sample also represents to the Thyssen museum, the first contact with the fashion taken as aesthetic object, or in the same way, it will be the first time that, the museum, uses trendy pieces to be observed within the juncture of artistic pieces like that usually are set out in their rooms and walls, a fact that expands its wide range of possibilities in the art world.
Many of the pieces have been selected for these samples are unpublished, from other museums and even private collections of lovers of fashion, a fact that adds value to the exposure if it should be.

About Hubert de Givenchy

Count Hubert James â always thinking ahead of Givenchy natural Oise was born into a wealthy family the day February 20 1927 in Beauvais, France. Son of the Marquis de Givenchy Lucien â always thinking ahead and his wife Beatrice “Sissi” of Badin, moves along with his older brother Jean-Claude de Givenchy, to the residence of his maternal grandmother owns jointly with her husband of the royal tapestry factory of Gobelin tapestries, Marguerite Dieterle of Badin by reason of the death of his father.
In spite of the insistence of his family because Hubert de Givenchy should refer the law career, the Grand Couturier income in the school of fine arts in Paris, motivated by his great interest in the artistic since well young. His first contacts with the fashion were surrounded by reputed designers of the time, beginning his career in the hand of Lucien Lelong, Piguet, Jacques Fath or Elsa Schiaparelli.
Finally in 1952 he founded the “Fashion House Givenchy” where by order, its name was recognized by performing jobs for major celebrities from the world of film, society and the high areas.
His popularity was rising to make designs for which was his muse, Audrey Hepburn, which shown any of their designs in cinematographic works as important in the history of cinema as “Breakfast at Tiffany’s“, of  Truman Capote.
Other personalities also known as Hollywood actresses, Liz Taylor or Jean Seberg put in the hands of the Grand Couturier to draw up their garments, as well as clothed to Jacqueline Kennedy, the Princess Grace Kelly or the duchess of Windsor until, finally, in the year 1988 he sold his signature which continued until the year 1995, at which time he retired from the fashion scene. Givenchy was succeeded by other big in the fashion world in the present as are John Galliano or Alexander McQueen.
Also, thanks to its publicly recognized admiration by Cristobal Balenciaga, (of which it is believed to be a worthy successor of Givenchy) gave the impetus of the construction project of the museum dedicated to the work of the basque grand couturier in Guetaria.

This same project that began our founder and creative director Clemència Peris already in the year 1979 with the purpose of offering its customers a unique product design, crafts and great artistic value.
